Programs
The year-round ministry of Wears Valley Ranch is to help children from crisis family situations. Our goal is to meet the spiritual, emotional, physical, and educational needs of children who, for various reasons, need a stronger family support system. Each program is designed to address one or more of these specific needs, but all of the programs operate with a common goal -- to see each person inspired to follow Christ, healed from the past, and equipped to reach his or her full potential.
Residential program
The Residential program provides year-round homes for up to thirty-two children. Each home is staffed with a happily married couple who serve as houseparents, along with one or two college-age mentors who help manage the home during the houseparents time off. The homes are specifically designed to be unique -- not institutional-- and life in them is as much like a family as we can make it. Read more >>
Education program
St. Andrews School at Wears Valley Ranch provides accredited, tutorial education for students in the Residential Program. Students coming from difficult situations sometimes are struggling academically. The tutorial approach allows us to address each student's individual needs, making up for any deficiencies and sometimes allowing students to advance multiple grade levels in a single year. Jim Wood's teaching ministry is another vital part of the Education Program at Wears Valley Ranch. Jim's thoughtful, real-life exposition of Scripture has helped many people who have never even seen the Ranch. Pastor Wood's daily Bible teaching is broadcast weekdays via satellite radio on FamilyTalk XM170 and FamilyNet/Sirius 161 and can be downloaded from the website. His books have also helped many people with critical issues of faith and can be ordered from the website as well.
Counseling, Recreation, and Equestrian
The Counseling Center at Wears Valley Ranch provides counseling for students, their families, and the staff who are working to help them. Two masters level counselors work with individuals, groups, and staff to help students learn and apply God's truth to their lives.
Recreation offers opportunities for students to grow physically and learn to meet new challenges. It also provides natural opportunities for applying Biblical principles and peace-making skills. Read more >>
