College Students - Become a Mentor at the Ranch in 2011-2012

Each year, up to 12 college students or recent college graduates devote a year of their lives to mentoring the students at Wears Valley Ranch.  The Mentors serve alongside the houseparents, helping disciple and tutor children from difficult situations.  They have the opportunity to change the lives of these kids, and many have had their own lives changed as well.

During the year, you'll have a chance to grow in your knowledge of the Bible and counseling as you join in devotions, tutor in the school, join in recreation, and work with students in the homes.  Many former Mentors have told us that they learned more from one year of this practical "hands-on" experience than they did in four years of college.

Beginning in fall 2011, we will be offering more training than ever for Mentors.  Each Mentor will participate in our first annual staff retreat.  At the retreat, we will learn the fundamentals of education, parenting, counseling, and peacemaking -- key skills every person needs in life, and that you will certainly need at the Ranch.

Throughout the year, successful Christian business leaders and entrepreneurs are partnering with the Ranch to offer seminars in Christian worldview, business, counseling, and missions.  We know you will be inspired, and we hope you will be better equipped for life beyond the Ranch as a result.

Mentors at the Ranch serve a one year term as volunteers, and many have returned for a second year.  Each mentor receives room and board, along with a small stipend to cover basic living expenses.  Some education loans can be deferred because of your service to the Ranch (please check with your lending institution for details).  However, if you are in debt or have significant fixed expenses, this may not be the opportunity for you.
